Hollywood Church awarded $10,000 grant from the city

OCBThis week the church learned that we have been awarded $10,000 from the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works. Each year the city awards approximately $800,000 to 90 groups city wide.
Our project, called Crossroads @ HOLLYWOOD, is a public art mural that will go on the west facing wall of our property that overlooks the freeway. You can see in the picture below that the wall is currently an eyesore and a magnet for graffiti.

After submitting the grant application in mid-October 2007, we have been eagerly awaiting the decision of the Office of Community Beautification. The team will now move ahead with all the plans to design and produce the mural.

To learn more about the mural, please visit the Crossroads @ HOLLYWOOD website at www.crossroadsathollywood.com. On the “About” page you can see a rendering of how the mural will look when it’s complete. Click on “Community Partners” to see the wide range of organizations in our neighborhood who are partnering on this project.

We are very pleased to be working with ManOne, a well known muralist in Los Angeles. We believe that this project will add value to our community, focster conversations in our community about our values and vision for the neighborhood. In addition will be be a deterrant to the damaging graffiti that frequently “graces” our wall.
