In our weekly worship services from now until Advent we will be focusing on selected passages from the Letter to the Hebrews in a series called “Portraits of Jesus the Christ.” These lectionary readings focus our attention on the person and ministry of Jesus with special attention to who Jesus is for us NOW. The Letter to the Hebrews is the clearest indication of who Jesus is and what Jesus is doing since Pentecost.

These texts have enormous practical significance for our everyday lives in Christ, here and now. They are also full of promises about our future which will energize our discipleship. I hope you’ll join us on this journey this Fall. You can start preparing for next Sabbath by taking some time this week to read Hebrews 1 and 2, especially focusing on chapter 1, verses 1-4 and chapter 2, verses 5-12.
