Luke 21:25-36
Our passage today, at the very beginning of Advent, reminds us that as we journey into the birth stories of Jesus – stories we love and are deeply familiar with – to never forget where this whole thing is headed. When Jesus enters our world the “powers of the heavens [and the earth] will be shaken” and Jesus will end up on a cross at the hands of those powers.
