Mission / Vision

“A community of God’s friends, befriending the city.”

A community…

It isn’t enough for isolated individuals to do these two things — experiencing God’s friendship and extending it to others in our city. Our mission is to be a people — a community of those befriended by God — a community on a mission to extend God’s embracing friendship to the city. Inherent in this is learning to love, befriend and embrace one another within the fellowship of the church. For more on this read 1 Peter 2:4-12

God’s friends…

Our faith is rooted in the fact that we have each felt the embrace of God in one way or another. Our members and friends come from diverse backgrounds and walks of life but we share in common an experience of God that brings us together — we are God’s friends. We have experienced the freedom that comes from knowing God’s embrace. If you’re curious to know more about this read John 15:15-17 and Luke 15:11-31.

Befriending the city…

We believe that God loves the city and has called us to love it on His behalf. By “the city” we mean, primarily, the people of the city, and in particular the people of Hollywood. In addition we mean the wonderful web of humanity that exists in a rich cultural environment like Hollywood. We also mean the pain of the city. As God embraced the pain of our world and bore it on the cross we hear God’s call to enter the city at the point of it’s pain and there extend God’s embrace to others. This means extending the friendship and hospitality of God without judgment and condemnation — fearlessly loving the least, the last and the lost in Christ’s name.
